Located in Midtown, on 44th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenue, and convenient to Times Square, Theatre District and Business District, the Royalton brings glamour back to Midtown.
The re-launched Royalton will offer a thoughtful combination of intelligent modern design and traditional sensibility. The new design pays homage to the undeniably visionary heritage of Royalton. The ambient glow of a massive cast-bronze fireplace embraces you as you enter Royalton’s lobby, redesigned by design firm Roman and Williams. The reinvented Brasserie 44, John McDonald’s latest creation, and Bar 44 create an environment that will inspire and awaken the heart of even the most hardened travellers. Royalton re-opens its doors after a full renovation in 2007 to welcome stylish, culturally-aware visitors from all corners of the globe.
Hotel information
Roman and Williams’ savvy re-invention of Royalton truly reflects the dynamic splendor of the hotel’s surroundings, abuzz with energy from the bustling epicenter of Midtown Manhattan in New York City.
Remaining true to Royalton’s original vision, you enter the Royalton via the iconic floor to ceiling mahogany doors into a crystalline glass vestibule that instantly sets the tone for the emotional, atmospheric experience yet to come. Visitors are then welcomed by Royalton’s “runway”, now warmed with dusty earth tones gradating from a sultry midnight blue to a majestic elephant grey combined with the glamorous texture of slate flooring.
Room information
The hotel’s rooms have been re-imagined by Charlotte Macaux, retaining Philippe Stark’s original bold features while updating the rooms to embrace the needs of the 21st Century jet-set traveler. Attention and respect to the trend-defining design history of Royalton is continued upstairs with the hallways carpeted with signature blue carpeting and illuminated by multi-tonal lighting. 3 distinctly unique penthouse designs, referencing the primal essence of the lobby, further pay homage to the notion of the hotel’s public spaces, serving as the ultimate living room while the rooms represent a private environment for rest and relaxation.
Food & beverage
Brasserie 44 and Bar 44:
Just past the lobby’s tactile setting, the legendary Round Bar, now Bar Forty Four, unravels to create an intimate setting signaled by a series of brass fins with subtle views extending from the entrance and lobby to the cream toned leather walls of Brasserie Forty Four, the latest eatery by John McDonald of the acclaimed Lever House. Roman and Williams’ inspiration, steeped in geometry, is further evoked as the restaurant’s dramatic structure is etched by an intricate draped rope sculpture anchored by teak frames providing a lighter, more intimate setting for guests.
